Life's Elsewhere

Their leer burns on your skin; run girl run!

This post, rather the juxtaposition of these two images, is inspired by a comment (in Bengali) made under one of my favorite blogger’s post about the public-stripping of a protesting tribal girl by upper-caste citizens in Guwahati, Assam recently (go here to read the post and an ‘indecent’ comment made by yours sincerely underneath; click image for the newspaper report). The first image (click image for larger version) is from Insultadarity, featuring a writer (a blogger?) probably by William Blake and the famous Vietnamese ‘girl on the run’ whose skin is scalded by American Napalm. Read this – Dignity Devoured, by Pack of Wolves – for a account on the former and more recent event.

When will we, like a tired king burdened with knowledge and vision, have the courage to pierce our eyes?
